One of those things you can do when you’re in a big city like New York is going to that kind of interesting, shocking exhibitions you can’t see in other places.

Last Thursday, following Encarni’s recommendations, we went to “Bodies: The exhibition”. Probably you’ve heard about it before: it’s a work by a doctor (maybe a German medical doctor?) that dissects and preserves human bodies using a new technique based on silicone.

...so, remember: "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust"...
According to the official website information, we can explain the process as follows:
A human specimen is first preserved according to standard mortuary science. The specimen is then dissected to show whatever it is that someone wants to display. Once dissected, the specimen is immersed in acetone, which eliminates all body water. The specimen is then placed in a large bath of silicone, or polymer, and sealed in a vacuum chamber.

...the specimen is then dissected to show whatever it is that someone wants to display...
Under vacuum, acetone leaves the body in the form of gas and the polymer replaces it, entering each cell and body tissue. A catalyst is then applied to the specimen, hardening it and completing the process.
In the exhibition you can’t take photographs, but I did… at least untill an unpleasant long black man told me: “Let me tell you something, man”. Then he pointed somewhere in the ceiling, and added: “We’ve got eyes!”. So I put my camera in his bag and prayed to find some nice pictures on Internet.
The pictures I’ve taken are not really good, but may serve as an example. The next few pictures are not mine, but show better what we could see in the New York Seaport.
So, remember: “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust”. It’s how they say in English “You’re dust, and in dust you’ll be turn”, or “Polvo eres, y en polvo te has de convertir”.
Brought to you by the most hangover 2/3 intelligenia

Creo que voy a ir a merendar después de esto xP
